I am not entirely sure why mail from bgviews.com was not being delivered, but it was not. And I am not entirely sure what ITS did, but once they did something, it was all of a sudden not blocked. It is worth mentioning that last semester this problem did not exist.
As noted here, mail sent from Movable Type, which is set to use Sendmail, are not getting delivered to bgsu.edu email accounts. What I did not know then, but know now, since talking to the tech at ITS (thanks Patrick!) is that it must be something with the text in the email or the headers. Because I sent him a confirmation email (from an account I just made in MT for testing) from bgviewsnetwork.com to bgsu.edu, and he never got it. Sending from bgviewsnetwork.com to his gmail.com account worked.
So now the ticket is back open and BGSU can do some voodoo magic and make this work. At least that is the hope.
To be clear, these automated emails sent from Movable Type using Sendmail used to go through just fine. I am not aware of a change on our dedicated server in the past few months, but anything is possible. If I need to change anything on our server, that is easily done, since we have a dedicated server.
As for BGSU blocking bgviews.com, a Google Apps for Domains email server, I have not a clue why that would be happening. That seems to be a different beast entirely, unfortunately.
