Six Apart has recently release Movable Type Motion, which is actually the next version of MT. Motion is the template set, and it has a lot of nice features. Features that look like Pownce.
What does this mean for the BG Views Community? Some features I already have installed, some I will be installing shortly, but much of the hard work goes *poof* with Motion. Action Streams is built in, Community Action Streams (which really are in MT Pro but not as elegant) and most importantly, Facebook Connect. Google login is also another new addition. So that makes for a really nice update to MT Pro in the near future that can't get here fast enough.

I already have Action Streams working pretty good -- some bugs with a plugin here and there, but pretty good. See my Action Stream. I will releave you of going into specifics, but Action Streams brings all your activity on the Internetz into one feed.
Facebook Connect was released a day later by Six Apart for use outside of Motion, and I am working right now on implimenting it into the BG Views site. This allows you to login to comment at BG VIews with your Facebook account. You can also opt to publish your activity at BG Views to your Facebook profile.
The last big part of Motion is the Google account login. According to an IM discussion I had with Anil today, this is not going to be made available outside of Motion right away, but down the road. Oh well, it is coming, as Motion will be part of a future release of MT Pro.
Oddly I had invisioned the BG Views Blogs to work similar to how the Motion template set is setup. So I cannot wait until it is final. Until then, I have the beta installed to tinker with. Sadly since it has so many changes, it requires a second install of MT. But check out the beta install I have setup. Sign up for an account and I will enable you to post. Submit comments, give it a shot. Becuase it is a look at the future of what we will be running at BG Views.
